Insurance Coverage

Several insurance companies began coverage of Naturopathic Medical Care for New Hampshire patients in January 2013.

Dr. Sellars is currently a participant with Cigna, Harvard Pilgrim (by referral only), Health Savings Accounts and Flexible Spending Accounts, and Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield for selected plans.

Contact your Insurance Representative to inquire about coverage for Naturopathic Medical Care or out of network providers. Please contact your insurance provider to confirm whether or not Dr. Sellars is a provider covered by your plan before making an appointment.

A visit to a Naturopathic Doctor costs much less than most visits to a Medical Doctor considering the amount of time that is spent with each individual.

The average first visit is between 60-90 minutes. During this time, a complete and detailed intake is done from which a comprehensive individualized treatment plan is crafted. Furthermore, fewer visits are generally necessary as the goal of care is to find and treat the cause behind the dis-ease rather than treat the symptoms.

When was the last time that your Insurance actually covered a visit to a health care professional that had the time to address your health care needs, educate you on how to either prevent the dis-ease or worked with you to find the cause of the dis-ease and work towards healing the cause and not the symptoms of the dis-ease? Although most health care providers chose to study and practice medicine because they wanted to help people improve their health, most insurance plans do not cover the time the provider needs to really understand the concerns expressed by the patient and provide the appropriate education and treatment plan.

Contact your health care insurance provider and ask about PPOs (Private Pay Organizations) and other insurance plans that will cover Naturopathic Medical Care.

Healthcare Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Plans will often reimburse your visits to my office. Many laboratory fees and imaging studies may be covered by your insurance plan.

In most cases, you will be asked to pay for your care at the end of a visit. We will provide a correctly coded super bill so that you can submit it to your insurance company for reimbursement.

Investing in one's health is perhaps the most important investment one can make. Without good health, it is difficult to enjoy life and all of the other investments that one has paid out of pocket for. Keep this in mind when you are considering whether or not it is worth investing in a long-term health care plan. A Naturopathic Doctor can help you make the investment that you have made in your health grow.
